Event Overview
Much possible early harp repertoire was passed on to other instruments as they became popular: lutes, pipes and fiddles. We’ll listen to the distinctive archive performance of master fiddler Denis Murphy playing the O’Neill’s lament, discuss transcribing from archive recordings, and work together to transfer this evocative piece – perhaps back! - to the Early Irish Harp, incorporating the ornaments and phrasing we hear on the recording.
