Event Overview
A small number of historical early Irish and Scottish harps survive. Although they are now silent, these old harps can help us understand the tradition for which they were made, and serve as models for newly made instruments that are being played to explore their sound world and repertory. This illustrated talk will introduce you to these harps, what is known about them and their histories, and will place them in the broader context of the harping traditions in Ireland and Scotland.
