Event Overview

Learn this beautiful love-song air from Ulster. We will examine the MS page on which the young Edward Bunting scribbled it down at speed as the county Tyrone harper, Arthur O’Neill, played it to him in the 1790s. We will get to a playable version on our harps, looking at plausible historical fingering and string-damping (for anyone interested in historical-Irish-harper performance practice), and we will establish a simple, lower-hand accompaniment that would fit within the documented idiom of Irish harpers in the old tradition pre 1800.
