Talk to an Irish Music Master
Monday July 25th
14:00 - 15:00 GMT +1
In celebration of this, the twentieth Scoil na gCláirseach, we have invited Ann Heymann to be a guest at this session. Ann is the undisputed doyenne of the twentieth-century revival of the early Irish harp or – as she prefers to call it – the Gaelic harp. Ann was the first guest tutor at the first Scoil na gCláirseach in 2003, and has been a source of inspiration to The Historical Harp Society of Ireland, its members, and staff, in the twenty years since. She will be joining us online, from her home in Minnesota, USA.
These relaxed, interview-style sessions allow you to listen to, and talk to, a recognised master musician in the living Gaelic tradition, chosen for their rare and authentic style of music-making. Question them about their background, training, influences, style, and their opinions on what is important in performing traditional music well. Some sessions instead introduce you to recordings of masters from the past. The deep, embedded knowledge, and ingrained style, of all these master musicians, will hopefully help you to make your own music sound more authentically Gaelic.
