Alongside his academic work in the area of historical harping, Dr Paul Dooley is King of the Strings when it comes to playing Irish jigs, reels, hornpipes and more on the wire-strung harp. In this class, you can learn one or more dances, work on ornamenting them in idiomatically Irish ways, consider how to flesh them out for both hands, and hear them played by an expert in the field. Paul will also discuss his approach to ‘basses’, and ornamentation, as applied here, and in the wider Irish dance-music repertory.
