Cruit Éireann, Harp Ireland was established in 2017 by harpers in collaboration with The Arts Council, An Chomhairle Ealaíon to develop and promote the harp, which is an integral part of our national identity. The designation of harping on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanities list reflects its critical place at the centre of our living culture. Flowing from our core aims, our artistic focus is multi-faceted: nurturing the artistic talent of our harpers, both as solo performers and in ensemble, acknowledging the vital role of the early Irish harp and drawing from its repertoire, supporting learning initiatives, ensuring that excellent new and contemporary work is created and engaging with current and diverse new audiences.
Lá na Cruite | Harp Day takes place this year on Saturday 21st October 2023 with performances, workshops, talks and taster sessions planned across Ireland and beyond, involving as many people as possible with our harping tradition and we want you to get involved!
